Choose a sunny or partially shaded, sheltered position with fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Magnolias generally prefer neutral to acidic conditions and benefit from protection against strong, cold winds.
Prepare a generous planting hole and position the root ball at approximately the same depth as it has been growing in the pot. Firm the surrounding soil gently and water thoroughly after planting.
